The liberals are upset with Obama. The Republicans are gleeful, and I'm somewhere in-between. I mean, I voted for the man, but I don't think he's liberal enough and I certainly don't think compromise is necessary without a fight. He's now viewed as a weakened president because he "caved".
Yesterday, he told people like me to quit being so critical. Well, since we're part of his support base he should be listening to our grumblings. It's not enough to intellectualize, especially in this country. Intellectuals are looked down upon...go figure. I'd like him to take a page out of the GOP playbook how to speak directly to the American people, especially his supporter in simple language. I mean lie, if you must...as the GOP does. These are are accomplishments, he could say, now if you don't like that, TUFF.
I was beside myself with frustration when I heard about his cuddling up to the GOP leaders to pass a tax reform act. The Dems. in Congress went ballistic! Not only were they not informed but their leader went elsewhere to settle the issue. Now, as president, I wouldn't have done it that way but I certainly would be frustrated with how Congress doesn't work. Suddenly, the Dems have to push through legislation, especially in the House, so that they can have some power as they are losing it come January. Once the Repubs. get ahold of the House it'll be business as usual, plus whining and more carrying on. And while I'm at it, what's with holding up the Start Treaty? One Repub. senator can do this? Kick his butt and pass it anyway. What's with this pussy footing around?
I heard the news today, oh boy...Lennon's been dead for 30 years. Congress passed the "Dream Act" today. Least that's better than caving into the Republicans! And you know what? Lennon's still dead. And so it goes...
